The Oc Sandy, or Sandy Cohen in The O.C. is somehow a replica of a perfect but troubled man. In the first season of the O.C., he was a public defender but later conflicts arise in the workplace which led to his change of career. He then started a restaurant with his good friend Jimmy Cooper, but it did not succeed due to not being able to get a liquor license because of Cooper.  Eventually, it led to the decision of Sandy to sell the restaurant. With these events happening in the first season, it showed how a man rise and fall but still rose again.

The Oc Sandy in the second season is still the same man but with different problems. Cohen's new problem was his relationship with his wife, Kirsten. He took a case involving Rebecca Bloom, which led him to almost cheating on her wife. This event shook her marriage, but they managed to survive with the decision of Rebecca Bloom of moving away from them. The drinking problem of Kristen was also their problem which grew worst when Kristen's father, Caleb, died. Because of this, Kristen was forced to go to rehab by the Cohen family. In the run of season two, it showed how a marriage couple should handle their predicaments or setbacks. The Cohens sets an example for those who are having the same dilemma because their problems were problems of a typical family, but they managed it well and good, especially on how Sandy handled them all being the head of the family.

The Oc Sandy in the third season was tested with another problem even though Kristen already got back from rehab. The death of Caleb led him to be the new CEO of The Newport Group, a real-estate company owned by Caleb. Being busy with work, his family struggled with problems. Even though Sandy won the “Man of the Year” award, he did not accept it because he felt like he failed as a father and as a husband. He decided to leave his job as a CEO and somehow planned to go back to being a public defender. In this season, the call for being the head of the family was loud enough for Sandy to leave his career as a CEO to focus more on a bigger responsibility and that is being a father and a husband.

The Oc Sandy in the fourth season was the superb husband. It was only put to a test again when their adopted son's father showed up, but they later  resolved the issue. Then he prepared a birthday present for his wife Kristen and as a return, Kristen announced that she is pregnant. They were again tested when an earthquake happened and endangered the life of Kristen her pregnancy. Again, they surpassed this test. After some months, they moved to Berkley including the baby and settled there with Sandy being a professor.  The ending was somehow a happy ending having the fact that for four seasons Sandy Cohen was troubled with problems.
